Also, they might enjoy accessibility to business software within their off time that they wouldn’t have purchased themselves, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, and come to see it as an additional job perk.

Your staff members might choose to upgrade their devices more consistently than the organization does.

Decreased expenses

When your team members use their present smartphone instead of a work-provided device, it’s possible to appreciate a cost-savings. Likewise, rather than purchasing a laptop as you onboard a new member, you might just have to buy supplemental software such as antivirus solutions and Photoshop.

Convenience

Save your employees the irritation of changing between work and personal phones, or accidentally leaving a critical document on their desktop at work and not being able to retrieve it as they wish to continue the task over the weekend.

While it’s possible to see that there are several benefits of permitting your staff to work on their own devices, there are multiple complications and risks which may arise if this practice isn’t implemented with a policy put into place.

As you implement a Bring Your Own Device policy, you necessarily give up some control; and as a staff member leaves, the device goes along with them. If you don’t have an established policy, there’s a risk they might be taking possibly sensitive data with them, such as company passwords.
